Starting in Wrexham today we had a short day to cover and we are both very thankful for it. Both our legs are getting sorer everyday and I think I might have to fashion some new knees out of coconut shells for Gaz.
We have a far more relaxed ride via canal paths and back roads through Chester and to Birkenhead. Along the way stuffing our faces with home made protein bars. Thank you Aunty Helen of the Aled Clan!
Then we get to the Mersey Crossing and I get my first glimpse of Liverpool. I tell you now, they really don't make enough of The Beatles thing, they should capitalise on that more! Though it was cool to note that we passed Abbey Road Studios 6 days back and now here we are.
A bunch of ladies very kindly offer to pay for our crossing, whilst defiantly looking at the ticket office for not supporting our cause. She is very insistent to help us and so we get a photo together and say our thank you's. For those of you wondering, they do play the 'Gerry and the Pacemakers' song on the ferry. I think they must do it to stop everyone else singing it. Didn't stop Gaz!
Quick picture at the Beatles statue and a Pint at the Pumphouse pub in Alberts Dock, (as you can see it really was a leisurely ride!) and we're off again.
Finished after 50 miles in Wigan to stay with Pat and Colin for some much needed rest. It's been three days of hard riding with even bigger days ahead. Fingers crossed we start to get fitter soon as today two signs of extreme mental fatigue became apparent. First was Gareth trying to change gears with imaginary levers that didn't exist and then myself attempting to zoom in on a paper map with my forefinger and thumb.... We need some rest for sure.
