A Heroes Welcome

Day one couldn't have started better. Got off the train at Penzance and an hour later arrived at Lands End to a glorious Heroes Welcome. We couldn't keep up the facade, after all it didn't look like we'd ridden the length or the breadth of the land!

The hills didn't ease us in either. It was pretty relentless. 16% hill two minutes out of Penzance station. But Gaz made it an easy task by singing Eminem's "blue and yellow, purple pills.... the radio edit!" at EVERY incline. (For those who don't know Eminem sings "hills" instead for the radio).

Finished the day with a chilled out 50 miles on the clock (but we did start at 6am from paddington this morning so give us a break!)

To end the day, I kid you not.... cycling to our first stop we come into Carnon Downs and I'm thinking I recognise this place.

It's literally around the corner from where we stayed in Truro with the show 'An Inspector Calls.' Two minutes around the corner.

The lady's called Jan. Again I'm thinking "I recognise her." Yup, she was a local extra in the show and she's so chilled out and lovely. She even gives us back the fee for staying there towards our charities!

To top it off. There's our poster on the wall with all our signatures on it. Today's lesson- People are awesome!
